SUNDAY RIDE - 02/07

I’m going to take it fairly easy and lead a mid-speed & distance pan flat route on Sunday, via the tea room in Blackmore, for anyone who wants to join. I’ll need to reserve the right to drop out before or during the ride if my leg rehab isn’t going to plan though. Make sure you know you can manage the ride if you’re going to join.

Departure time: Usual 8:30am
Length: 80km / 50mi
Avg Speed: 28Km/h (33kph rolling speed) / 17mph (20mph)

Route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/15640106

Stealing from the policy Guido put up for his ride:

  • have the route loaded in your garmin as you may have to find your way back home (I might be the one left behind if my leg explodes)

  • have spare parts tubes, a pump, a phone, and a card so that you can deal with mechanicals

  • Bring along enough food for eating during the ride, this is super important to remember if you’re mostly riding 40 miles or less (you’ll bonk after 2 or so hours if you don’t take on about 2-300cals per hour during the ride, you can’t tough out bonking or train to prevent it, you just need to eat http://cyclinguphill.com/energy-consumption-whilst-cycling/)

  • bring water!

Look forward to seeing you out there!

I am keen for this

#5

I’m coming for the 50mil ride

#6

Hi, Is there an accessible ride to Epping tomorrow?

#7

I’ll be riding somewhere but may be back late tonight so not sure exactly what our plan is. Would like to get out to Epping but might end up doing Greenwich or something closer instead. Will come down for 08:30 if we can get up in time.

#8

Sorry Todd. When I checked the thread for any responses last night there weren’t any, so I assumed there was no ride. I’ve only just read your message. Thanks for responding. Hope you had a great night out, and a good bike ride if you were able to surface from the pit early enough. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Roseann.

#9

No worries, wasn’t expecting anyone to plan around us as that was a late message. We didn’t get back until 01:00 so early Sunday ride was a write-off!

#10

Hope you had a good night. Plenty more Summer Sunday opportunities for cycling!

#11

Hi guys, is anyone going for a mid ride on Sunday this weekend?

#12

@MdeBokx I’m planning to go for mid length ride.
Although I don’t have route on my mind planned.
I might use same way we went last week.
Regards Dawid

#13

@Dawid_Owl wicked, did a lot of climbing today so I dont know how my legs will be but totally up for a ride! see you 8:15?

#14

How long and what was last week’s route you’re planning for tomorrow @Dawid_Owl ?

Was thinking about a 26kmph (ish) 60km ride tomorrow along this route: https://www.strava.com/routes/9118566

Though happy to join you depending on route and pace.

Ps. Good luck to everyone doing the Dunwich Dynamo tonight. Sad not to be joining you this year!

#15

Last weeks route was 50km, it’s here: https://www.strava.com/activities/1063701748

also just checked Dunwhich Dynamo! So awesome, have fun everyone who is doing it :open_mouth:

#16

No sign of an accessible ride planned so not sure who is around for that, if anyone. I’ll be in the usual place at 08:30 heading for High Beach at my own (casual) pace unless there’s a suitable group in the morning with a different plan. The mid-pace would probably drop me.

#17

Thanks Todd. I’m doing the Tour of Essex bike ride this morning, so cannot join. However, as I would also be dropped by the mid pace, I would be interested in doing a more casual pace to High Beech on future Sundays. Enjoy your ride, Roseann.

#18

Going to Greenwich actually, feel like a change of scenery.

#19

Leaving now, heading for high beech and the hills,

Hi guys sorry for not writing yesterday.
Had late night out and busy Sunday (Sold my Giant TCR) on a heavy head from night before I didn’t have energy to set up other bike for the ride. I will try to make it next time. Promise
