Free Parking Permits

#1

Not sure if everyone is aware of this but as resident in a controlled parking zone you should be entitled to 30 free 1day parking permits for your guests/visitors/workmen etc. Here is the link to apply…

#2

Do you know where they actually work @modboy? Do they cover the TR spaces?

#3

I beleive they will only work in the controlled parking zones that newham council own. They wouldn’t work in the front of the blocks for instance, but would work on Honour Lea Avenue…I think. As they issued by Newham they can only be used in Newham spaces. There will be a map somewhere on the newham parking website.

The spaces are marked EV in bold black letters on the roadside sign which also details the times/terms for the space

We have 30 visitor parking permits from Newham Council.
There used to be “EV” signs on the parking bays but these signs have disappeared from Scarlet Close. They have been replaced with TR (Triathlon Homes)/Gemini parking signs instead.

Does any one know if the Newham Council visitor parking permits can be used in these signed bays on Scarlet Close?

Think I just found the answer.

Street parking for residents and visitors

There is an East Village Resident Parking Zone (RPZ) enforced between 8am and 9pm, Monday to Sunday.

Sunrise Close, Napa Close, Logan Close and Scarlet Close are exempt from the RPZ as these roads are privately owned. Illegal parking here will continue to result in ticketing by East Village Management’s Parking Enforcement Company. Residents of these roads can however still apply for Newham Council-issued East Village permits to park within the East Village RPZ.

Thanks, @boarderbob but according to the map on the Newham Council website, these streets are included in the residential parking zone for which “resident visitor parking permits” can be applied for.

Resident visitor parking permits allow visitors to park in a residential parking zone during controlled hours. Check here for the East Village residential parking zones.

With a permit, your visitor can park in a:

  • permit holders only bay
  • a shared use bay, which can be used by permit holders and motorists who display a valid pay and display ticket

If you fulfil the conditions, you can apply for 30 free visitor parking permits per year here.

I did says: [quote=“boarderbob, post:6, topic:2695”]

You can apply for permits but you won’t be able to use them to park on Sunrise Close, Napa Close, Logan Close and Scarlet Close.

Yeah there are no Newham bays in those roads. So even if the council says they’re technically in the zone it’s irrelevant since there are no bays that you can actually use the free permits in.

#10

Thanks @boarderbob & @ToddYatesUK
That’s quite remarkable!
Where in the area CAN we use the permits, then?
Or are they completely useless?
(Unless one walks all the way from Stratford-Stratford :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)

They work on some of the spaces round the edge of the village - basically Honour Lea Ave, Olympic Park Ave, Anthems Way

OK, thanks @HelS
