Spring has truly sprung at
Mobile Garden City!
We had a great group of volunteers join us in the sunshine last Friday for the first Market Garden session of the year.

Our volunteers got stuck in clearing and harvesting veg in the Market Garden, ready for spring re-planting. Our experienced Community Gardener, Gabby taught the team some of the key elements of kitchen gardening including companion planting (carrots and spring onions go well together, don’t you know!), the principles of growing organically, perfect propagation and soil enrichment.

Want to join in the fun? Market Garden sessions run from 1-2.30pm every Friday
Email Emily at mobile.garden@groundwork.org.uk for more information, and to reserve your place at a session. We look forward to seeing you there!

Can’t make it in the week? Come down to the garden at the weekend for self-guided gardening between 10am-5pm and get stuck in with a number of tasks that our Community Gardener puts together each week.

Here are a few photos from our afternoon:

Thank you to everyone who came to the East Village Eggstravaganza! We hope you enjoyed your Easter eggs and helping Alice find her wonderland friends around East Village.

Hey E20, here is a workshop from your local gardens

Urban Gardening Consultation Workshop

Saturday 27th May, 11am-1pm
at Mobile Garden City

Hi Everyone,

As you know, Mobile Garden City is due to move its location in October 2017, to a new site by the Copper Box on the Olympic Park, and we may be getting a new neighbour!

Make Shift (an organisation that transforms underused urban space to unlock opportunities for local people and independent businesses) has been commissioned by East Wick & Sweetwater and LLDC to explore local needs and propose ideas for a potential temporary development in the East Wick and Sweetwater development area at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The study is part of the strategy to support local employment, enterprise and new exciting public spaces in and around the Park and the Hackney Wick area. You can find out more here: https://www.clarnicoquay.org/

So how can you get involved?

Make Shift are holding an urban gardening consultation workshop at Mobile Garden City this Saturday (27th May), and would love to get input from volunteers and users of the garden for their study and development of a new site located by Mobile Garden City. We will be looking at how best to integrate gardens with architecture and incorporating ecological habitat for local biodiversity within an urban landscape.

The workshop will be fun and interactive, and we plan to end with a gardening activity. Refreshments will be provided. No need to book, just turn up on the day.

We look forward to seeing you there!

With best wishes,

Emily and Victoria

Senior Project Officer and Community Gardener
