Important notes for Club Rides:

Multiple Club Rides can go ahead on any given Sunday. Members should feel free to post a ride and route at a pace they would like to do, with others joining that ride if interested. There is less emphasis on ride leading on Club Rides as all riders are responsible for themselves and should be familiar with group rides.

Club Ride 1:
Date: 05.08.2018
Avg. Pace: 26-27kph
Distance: 72km or 92km
Setting off: Usual spot across from Sainsbury’s in Victory Park at 08:30
Saddle time: Around 3-4 hours - depends if we add the extra 20km
Drop: No drop - but make sure you are comfortable with the pace and distance above
Route: Moreton - Matching Green loop

This is a pretty flat route out the other side of Epping, round the very edge of Harlow and off into the great country lanes to Moreton. At Moreton we can either head back (making it a 72km-ish route) or press on to loop around Matching Green (adding an extra 20km in total) before looping back through North Weald and back onto Epping High Road drag back into Stratford.

As ever make sure your tyres pumped & bring spare tubes, a pump etc and try to download the route to a GPS.

The flat course should balance out the heat… hopefully, but don’t forget to bring enough food, water and sun cream for the distance!

Hi all,
I can’t make it out tomorrow, family stuff and all that. I did ride out to high beech today, the road from rangers out to high beech is in the process of being relaid so there’s plenty of loose chippings, especially from cars coming the other way. I think the road is like that tilll the Theydon Bois roundabout. Maybe think about cutting down Buckhurst and through Loughton if you need to avoid. Be safe and enjoy

#4

Thanks @Sjh Really useful to know. May detour a bit tomorrow to avoid.

#5

See you guys there :metal:t3:

Great ride on Sunday folks and loved riding in the new kit with everyone! Great teamwork during the ride and fantastic route; I especially liked the random off-road part!

We ended up taking the epping new road coming back where there is currently resurfacing “work” going on - definitely avoid.

Accessible/ Hill training Ride - High beach with the option of hill loops.
Ride leaders: @Henry @MdeBokx
Date: 12.08.18
Avg. Pace: 23kph (chilled)
Distance: 50km
Setting off: Usual spot across from Sainsbury’s in Victory Park at 08:30
Saddle time: 2- 3 hours
Drop: No drop - but make sure you are comfortable with the pace and distance above. The hill loops will be done at individual pace, there and back is no drop.

Hi guys, as usual we are taking the accessible ride out to high beach/ the acorn hut. Additional to this we are doing hill loops on Lippits and Mott street for any one who wants to get some climbs in! (Both Henry and me will be doing the hill loops, so if you do not want to climb or stay at the acorn hut please make sure you are comfortable cycling back to E20.) The hill loops will be done at individual pace, so you can do as many or as little as you want, or as intense or relaxed as you want, no stress! We will all join back together and cycle back to E20

Please make sure your bike is :ok_hand:, check brakes (important for descending safely!) and you take enough water / snacks to refuel. The tea hut sells snacks and drinks but only takes cash so be prepared if you want anything.

RSVP if you are coming

Hi, my boyfriend and I live in the village and are looking to join a cycling club. Can we come along to the accessible ride tomorrow? We are both relatively keen cyclists, so no worries about the distance and pace. Let us know if that is okay. Thanks, Sarah

#11

Hi @SarahT absolutely no problem
@Henry will be there to meet you and lead out the ride.

Great ride out on the “accessible” ride today guys. Great to see some news and old faces, and good average speed at that. :call_me_hand:
